Here's a picture of me and Kim on the boat tour under the Golden Gate bridge and around Alcatraz. For more pics we've taken on the honeymoon, go to my Flickr site.

WEDDING MUSIC:
Here's a list of songs I asked the DJ for the wedding to add to his frankly horrifying list of songs they like to play. Since when is anything by Jay Z appropriate for a wedding? And really, disco? It's 2004, playing any music from Saturday Night Fever in public (yes, even ironically hipsters!) should be a hanging offense. Not to say these are all classics of wedding tradition but I like them all for one reason or another:

  • Led Zeppelin - Going to California

  • Led Zeppelin - Thats the way

  • Jethro Tull - Aqualung

  • Tom Petty - Here comes my girl

  • Tom Petty - Into the great wide open

  • Social Distortion - She's a knockout

  • Bob Dylan - Shelter from the storm

  • Bob Dylan - Boots of Spanish Leather

  • Bob Dylan - Tombstone Blues

  • Stone Temple Pilots - Still remains

  • U2 - One

  • Lonestar - Amazed

  • Sting - Fields of Gold

  • The Verve - Lucky Man

  • Grant Lee Buffalo - Truly Truly

  • Guns 'N Roses - Sweet Child 'o mine

  • Nina Gordon - Tonight & The rest of my life

  • Jewel - You were meant for me

AUDIOBOOKS:
Ok, so here's a question. Despite being a somewhat newly converted devotee of audiobooks, I've never bought one. Every audiobook I've ever listened to has been rented or borrowed from the library. My question is: Is there a difference between renting/borrowing and downloading the audiobook from the internet? I wouldn't have paid for it in either case and in both cases it has been bought once before, either by the person who uploaded it to the net or by the library/rental store.

BOOKS:
At the start of the year I was all set to follow the lead of a couple of other bloggers and read 50 books this year. So far it's the middle of July and I've only really read 15 books through (I'm not counting audiobooks but I may give in and count them come years end). I'm not going to make it unless I lose my job I'd imagine. I'm not sad about that though, and it's all thanks to Salon.com. As part of my subscription to Salon.com they gave me subscriptions to quite a few excellent magazines. I used to read a lot of magazines then for various reasons my mag reading tapered off to nothing. Now in the past 6 months or so I've gotten subscriptions to Wired, US News, Mother Jones (which has suddenly stopped coming for some reason), National Geographic & NG Explorer, New York Review of Books, Granta, and Game Informer. This constant influx of new reading material, combined with my weekly intake of comics which is usually 4+ issues of various series, means I've been reading a lot fewer actual books. I'm still making quite a dent in my Too Be Read shelf but I'm not going to get to 50 books and that's cool. Now if I can just get up the courage to move the last already-read books off the TBR shelf to make room for the new TBR books..
